COMPLETED BUILD · FAMILY INSPIRED
A backyard built
for adventure.
A custom play structure I designed and built for my kids.
A raised playhouse among the trees, with a swing, chalkboard, rock climbing wall, porthole windows, sunroof, and bucket pulley system. I designed and built it for my kids: a place to climb, draw, look out, and make their own backyard adventures.

BUILT FOR MORE THAN ONE KIND OF PLAY
A little place.
Lots to do.
The play structure brings six features together, giving the kids different ways to use the same backyard space.
- Swing: a place to sway alongside the playhouse.
- Chalkboard: space for drawings, messages, and whatever story comes next.
- Rock climbing wall: another way to climb into the adventure.
- Porthole windows: little round views into the backyard.
- Sunroof: a view of the sky from inside.
- Bucket pulley system: a way to send a bucket up and down.
01 · THE IDEA
From paper to a patch of yard.
The drawing brings the proportions and features together before the build begins. Outside, the timber outline marks where the project will sit—a first glimpse of how the idea fits into the yard.

02 · THE BUILD
A platform becomes a playhouse.
The raised deck establishes the floor. Upright framing then gives the structure its walls and roofline, turning an open platform into a recognizable little house.

03 · THE FINISH
A way up. A place to play.
The ladder joins a structure designed for more than one kind of play. Porthole windows and the sunroof bring views of the yard and sky into the playhouse. The swing, chalkboard, rock climbing wall, and bucket pulley system give the kids different ways to make it their own.

Making room for imagination.
The backyard play structure is one part of a larger collection of things I’ve made for my kids—from a bright yellow armoire for dress-up clothes and toys to a bookshelf for wizarding stories and stuffed owls.
